What is a Student Guardian Visa Subclass 590 Visa For?

This visa allows you to enter and stay in Australia as a legal guardian of an international student who is under 18 years of age on a student visa.

Your visa can be lodged together with your child visa application together as a group. But your visa, once granted can only be valid until our child becomes 18 years of age.

WHO CAN BE A GUARDIAN ?

  • Be a parent of the student visa holder, or
  • A person who has the custody of the student, or
  • A relative of the student who is 21 years or older, but nominated in writing by a parent or person who has custody right of the student.

WHO CAN BE A RELATIVE

  • A parent of step parent
  • Grandparent or step-grandparent
  • Sibling or step sibling
  • Aunt, uncle, step-aunt or step-uncle
  • Niece, nephew or steps
  • Partner
  • Child or stepchild
