Visitor Visa – Visitor Visa Conditions and Waiver
All visitor visas come with some conditions, which visa holders must comply with and follow.
When your tourist visa is granted, you must check what conditions are attached to your visa so you know more about what you should do and what should not do while you are holding a tourist visa.
The following are the mostly commonly seen visa conditions that are imposed to a visitor visa. Please note the visitor visa conditions may vary from the conditions for other visa conditions, e.g. a student visa.
8101—NO WORK
You must not work in Australia at all time.
8201—MAXIMUM 3 MONTHS STUDY
While in Australia, you must not engage, for more than 3 months, in any course or training.
8501—MAINTAIN HEALTH INSURANCE
This conditions means you must have and maintain adequate health insurance for the whole of your stay in Australia.
8503 — NO FURTHER STAY
This condition means while you are in Australia, you are not able to make a valid visa application for any new substantive visa other than a protection visa. However, visa holders may request to waive the condition in case of a major change in your circumstances. A good case in point is the COVID-19 pandemic.
8531 — MUST LEAVE BEFORE VISA EXPIRY
This visa condition means you must leave Australia before the visa expiry date.
8558 – NON RESIDENT
This visa condition is often imposed to a long-term multiple entry tourist visa, meaning you cannot stay for more than 12 months in any 18 months period.
NO FURTHER STAY WAIVER
While you must comply with all visa conditions, you may, in very special situations such as COVID-19 pandemic, have the 8503 condition waived and apply for or renew another substantial visa onshore in Australia. For detailed procedures, please book a time with Korrylink for help.
